The story begins when government agent Bill Randa (John Goodman) hires SAS Captain James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) and anti-war photographer Mason Weaver (Brie Larson) to map a mysterious island. Escorted by a military unit led by Lieutenant Colonel Preston Packard (Samuel L. Jackson), the group soon learns that they are not alone.
